Mentions: The expression level of NtSVP was then checked in pedicels of NtBPL transgenic plants, and no significant change was found (Supplementary Fig. S5E at JXB online), indicating that NtBPL is indeed located downstream of NtSVP and there was no feedback regulation on NtSVP. To confirm this notion further, NtSVP/NtBPL double RNAi plants were generated by crossing RNAi lines of the two genes. The NtSVP and NtBPL double RNAi plants exhibited shortened pedicels, similar to those of NtBPL-RNAi plants, suggesting a downstream location of NtBPL relative to NtSVP (Fig. 3). In other words, NtSVP and NtBPL may possibly work on the same regulatory pathway for tobacco pedicel development.
