Mentions: Because of the early arrest of neuronal migration, a symmetric circumferential band of heterotopic grey matter is separated from the overlying cortex by a thin band of white matter. On MRI, the brain appears to have a “double cortex” appearance (Figure 20). The condition is quite rare, found predominantly in females, and is occasionally associated with an X-linked dominant inheritance pattern [23].
