LV end-diastolic dimension was similar among groups at 3 days after operation and significantly increased at 8 weeks after operation in MI group (versus Sham group, P < 0.01) which could be partly attenuated by valsartan in MI + Val group (versus MI group, P = 0.004 < 0.01) (Fig. 1A). LV end-diastolic dimension was significantly increased in MI groups and MI + Val group than in Sham group at 3 days after operation. LV end-diastolic dimension was further increased in MI group, but remained unchanged in MI + Val group 8 weeks after operation compared with that at 3 days after operation (P > 0.05) (Fig. 1B).
