Severe nerve cell loss has occurred in the hippocampus. There is moderate nerve cell loss in the end-plate (sectors 5 and 4 of Rose), preservation of nerve cells in sector 3, and almost complete disappearance in sectors 2 and 1. (Sector 1 corresponds to Sommer’s sector.) Nissl stain.
