ABSTRACT

Osteoradiology: Unfused secondary ossification centers can imitate fractures in adolescents. Variants of normal anatomy often resemble fracture especially in the trauma setting. In late adolescence, the secondary ossifications sites are not necessarily fused. Look for secondary clues like abnormal tissue planes, e.g. joint effusions to help clarify.
