ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Esoghageal spasm with a single pulsion-type diverticulum

History: 71 year old white male with a 30 pack year history of smoking, known schatzski's ring, and esophageal reflux now presents with dysphagia, increasing indigestion, and chest pain following eating.

Findings: • esophagaus demonstrated prominent tertiary contractions throughout the thoracic esophagus. • Solitary diverticulum measuring approximately 1 cm in diameter, arising exophytically off the distal thoracic esophagus.

Dxhow: Character of Barium swallow and UGI flouroscopy and patient's symptoms reproduced during swallowing of contrast.

Exam: Non-contributory
