Diagnosis: IED - improvised explosive device

The projectile which proved to be a ball bearing then penetrated the anterior portion of the middle cranial fossa with some fracture fragments and air and proceeded without much evidence of trauma to the right posterior parietal area where there was an associated hematoma.

Dxhow: CT

Exam: small laceration under right cheek bone with proptosis of right eye

No MeSH data available.

This is a comparison case with an irregularly shaped projectile from an IED. Note the path of hemorrhage and tissue injury, as well as the metalic fragments left at the scalp site of entry.
