ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Grenade fragment stable in transverse foramina of the vertebrae

History: 22 y.o. otherwise healthy marine from Fallujah, Iraq during major firefight. Grenade went off in confined area.

Findings: Grenade fragment lodged in right transverse foramina of the vertebrae.

Ddx: Grenade fragment to right transverse foramina of the vertebrae

Dxhow: CT

Exam: Penetrating injury just under right ear.

Coronal CT of C spine demonstrates the grenade fragment within the right 4th vertebral transverse foramina. Contrast can be seen in the right vertebral artery with no evidence of leakage or psuedoaneurysm.
