ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Cerebral Cavernous Malformation

History: 32 year-old man with the recent onset of seizures.

Findings: • Heterogeneous signal lesion - mixed iso and hyperintense on T1WI • Hyperintense on T2WI - in the region of the right lenticular nucleus, anterior limb of the right internal capsule, and external capsule • Hypointense rim on T1WI that “blooms” on T2WI • No mass effect • Minimal enhancement seen post-gadolinium

Ddx: • Cavernous malformation • Hemorrhagic neoplasm • AVM • Capillary telangiectasia

Dxhow: Pathognomonic radiological features

Exam: Non-focal neurological examination.

No MeSH data available.

Axial FSE T2WI - mixed heterogeneous signal lesion that is hyperintense on T2WI is seen region of the right putamen, anterior limb of the right internal capsule, and external capsule. The surrounding hypointense rim “blooms” on T2WI.
