Chronic Myocardial Infarction

Long JRL - MedPix (2008)

View Article: MedPix Image - MedPix Case

Affiliation: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Chronic Myocardial Infarction

History: 39 year-old male with a history of prior myocardial infarction.

Findings: Subendocardial hyperenhancement on mycardial delayed enhancement (MDE) imaging in the anterior and anterioseptal wall of the left ventricle consistent with myocardial infarction. Normal T2W signal suggests the lack of edema and this to be a chronic myocardial infarction (vs. acute myocardial infarction).

Ddx: Acute Myocardial Infarction Chronic Myocardial Infarction Sarcoidosis Amyloidosis Myocarditis

Dxhow: Cardiac MRI combined with clinical information.

Exam: n/a

No MeSH data available.

2-chamber MDE image deomstrates subendocardial hyperenhancement along the anterior wall of the left ventricle. The hyperenhancement extends from the involves up to 30% of the ventricular wall thickness. Mild hypokinesis was also noted along this distribution on cine FIESTA images (not shown).
