Schematic diagram. After 2-4 weeks, infections cerebritis may organize into an abscess. This involved angiogenesis with deposition of collagen to "wall off" the central liquefaction necrosis of brain; and, the inflammatory pus. An organized abscess has a thin (<10mm), convex, relative uniform rim - that may be thinner along the white matter side.
