ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: lactating adenoma

History: 36 y.o. female, lactating, with palpable right breast mass.

Findings: Ultrasound image from a focused examination shows a well-defined oval lesion with a relatively hypoechoic margin, but predominantly isoechoic within - relative to the surrounding normal breast parenchyma, with a focus of eccentric calcification. Its long axis is parallel to the chest wall, a benign characteristic.

Ddx: fibroadenoma lactating adenoma breast carcinoma (very unlikely, but needs to be ruled out)

Dxhow: ultrasound-guided biopsy

Exam: approximately 1.5 cm mobile breast mass in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast

No MeSH data available.

Ultrasound image from a focused examination shows a well-defined oval lesion with a relatively hypoechoic margin, but predominantly isoechoic within relative to the surrounding normal breast parenchyma, with a focus of eccentric calcification. The calcifications causes a focus of shadowing along the posterior border. Its long axis is parellel to the chest wall, a benign characteristic.
