ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Duplicated collecting system with presence of faceless kidney sign on ultrasound.

History: 35 year old female with prior history of pyelonephritis and right flank pain.

Findings: Ultrasound imaging of the patient's right kidney revealed a faceless kidney sign and showed evidence of a duplex collecting system, without presence of hydronephrosis.

Ddx: Hypertrophied column of bertin, lobar dysmorphism, nodular compensatory hypertrophy, segmental infarction, pyelonephritis, infiltrative disease (lymphoma), tumors (TCC).

Dxhow: IVP

Exam: WNL

No MeSH data available.

Coronal ultrasound image of the right kidney showing absence of hilar fat in the midpole, with a complete band of renal cortex diagnostic for a duplicated collecting system in this patient with presence of the faceless kidney sign. The diagnosis of a duplex kidney was confirmed with IVP.
