ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Talonavicular Coalition

History: Chronic ankle pain.

Findings: Radiographs of the left ankle and foot demonstrate a ball-and-socket ankle joint and associated talonavicular coalition.

Ddx: Differential Diagnosis for ball-and-socket ankle joint: congenital shortening of the lower limbs coalition of tarsal bones absent digital rays aplasia or hypoplasia of the fibula

Dxhow: Radiography

The normal right foot is provided for comparison.  AP view of the left foot again demonstrates talonavicular coalition.  Note that unlike the right, the great toe of the left foot is shorter than the 2nd toe.
