ABSTRACT

Diagnosis: Osteoblastoma

History: 15 y.o. boy with four month history of backache and left sided lumbar muscle stiffness. Patient reported needing to take motrin daily for these complaints.

Findings: PLAIN FILM: Expansile lytic lesion at right pedicle of L2. There is also a 9.5 degree levoconvex lumbar scoliosis, as measured from the superior endplate of L2 to the inferior endplate of L4. CT: Expansile lytic process with a nonagressive appearance, at right pedicle of L2 involving the transverse process, posterior spinous process and pars interarticularis. This lesion has intact cortical margins and a few internal septations; and, it expands the inner cortical margin into the spinal canal.

Ddx: 1. Osteoblastoma 2. Aneurysmal bone cyst

Dxhow: Surgery, pathology, histology

No MeSH data available.

Nonagressive expansile lytic process at the right pedicle of L2, involving the transverse process, posterior spinous process and pars interarticularis. The cortical margins are intact (arrows). There are a few septations and the lesion expands the inner cortical margin and encroaches into the spinal canal (*).
