ABSTRACT

Advertisement from an issue of Scope magazine designed by graphic designer Lester Beall. Images and text depicted against a white background. At the center is a woman wearing a turban on her head, holding a lunch box in her left hand and a jacket in her right hand; to the right of her is a man inside a circle with a lunchbox in his right hand and a jacket in his left hand, he is shown again in blue as a smaller version at the top of the page inside a half-square; on the lower right of the page is an image of a woman using a T-square; next to her on the page is a bottle of "Kaopectate"; on the left side of the page is a man using machinery; at top left of the page is a woman wearing safety glasses using machinery. There are several thin lines imposed over the images and bisecting one another. Text in black type at the bottom left of the page reads: "minimizes the loss of valuable working hours that result from summer diarrheas. These infections are usually self-limited and seldom serious but like the common cold they cause serious loss of time. Kaopectate, by absorbing the toxic products of bacterial growth, gives prompt symptomatic relief so that the patient can quickly resume his normal schedule of work." Text on bottom right of the page reads: "Each fluidounce contains, Kaolin ... 90 grs., Pectin ... grs., in an aromatized and carminative vehicle." In yellow type imposed over the black text "it is available in 10 oz. and gallon bottles."
